Purchasing a home through RALT
Ten steps to purchasing a home at Cottages of Idlewild
Potential homebuyers must first submit your initial application to RALT.
RALT will verify the application and provide a referral to DHIC for credit counseling. If accepted, DHIC will start credit counseling and provide support to the potential homebuyer throughout the buying process.
Potential homebuyers must attend a RALT info session as soon as possible.
Once initial DHIC counseling is completed, the potential qualifying homebuyer is then added to the RALT “Pending Approval” list.
The potential homebuyer must meet pre-qualification where they are informed of the amount of the loan they qualify for to continue the homebuying process.
Potential homebuyers tour units they are eligible for and select which available homes they prefer at Cottages of Idlewild. RALT Director of Homeownership and Stewardship will work with the homebuyer to select their unit.
RALT will then select potential homebuyers based on additional qualifying factors that can include their current residency, proximity to the property, if they have family in the community, the need for a home and AMI.
Once qualifications are met, approval packet is prepared for the RALT Board.
Qualifying Homebuyer is offered contract to purchase the unit.
Homebuyers move forward with the closing process.
