Sheila Porter
Sheila has always had a passion for seeing families and individuals empowered, equipped and encouraged to become homeowners and experience building generational wealth.
She started her career in banking many years ago with the final 10 years as a Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Loan Officer. Although counseling was not a part of her job description in this role, she always tried to advise and teach her customers the aspects of homeownership.
In 2000, Sheila joined the staff of DHIC, a local non-profit developer of affordable housing and provider of homebuyer and financial literacy education. Starting off as a Counselor, she was now able to focus on educating and equipping potential homebuyers. Her role evolved and Sheila eventually took on the role of VP of Homeownership Center services where she managed all aspects of Homeownership Center Operations, compliance and service development and delivery.
Sheila retired from DHIC in April 2025. Her work over the years has touched thousands. She considered her work to be more than a job but a ministry and an opportunity that God gave her to serve individuals and families in our community.
